All components have been strengthened and made more durable, so it was decided to equip the new Royal Oak Offshore with a chronograph movement in keeping with the sporting mission evoked by the design. The result was a 42mm watch that was huge for the time, earning the watch the nickname “The Beast”. When the watch was unveiled, it received mixed reactions. Genta himself hates this concept. ROO is always at the forefront of innovation when it comes to materials. An all-ceramic "beast"...that says it all. First off, there's something particularly cool about the all-ceramic Royal Oak model. These are rare, very coveted, very coveted and yes, I must be honest, very expensive. But the AP won’t do anything halfway. As expected, it blends perfectly into the overall design and gives this version a unique look. Needless to say, the overall execution is excellent. The bracelet is closed with a titanium folding clasp. Two important notes: this model doesn't have the quick-release system on the steel model (which allows you to replace the strap with a rubber strap), and it doesn't have the fine adjustment of the buckle, which is very useful on a watch like this huge one.

The black theme continues on the dial, once again paying homage to the roots of the Royal Oak Offshore series. Recently, ROO watches are mainly produced with giant plaid (relief) patterns. AP brings back the classic and more complex small plaid pattern to the ROO collection in 2021, launching a new Beast in Black style this year. Finished in matte black for a unified look, the pattern largely follows that used on the classic Royal Oak. However, this new model is the first to come entirely in black monochrome.
